Giacomo Picardi earned his BSc in Computer Engineering and MSc in Robotics and Automation Engineering from the University of Pisa. He successfully completed his PhD in 2019 at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, defending his thesis titled ‘A bio-inspired approach to Underwater Legged Robotics’.

Since January 2023, he has been affiliated with the Instituto de Ciencias del Mar (ICM-CSIC). In September 2023, he commenced his MSCA postdoctoral fellowship, aiming to leverage the benefits of legged robotics in marine ecology applications. His research focuses on legged robotics, biomimetic design, underwater robotics, soft robotics, and analysis and control of dynamical systems.
